The Barn

Our active pre-schoolers spend their days playing and exploring, being involved and having fun, either in and around our converted Barn building or out at Forest School

Active Learners

Children join the Barn from about 36 months, where the pace of life is not for the faint hearted. This is a very special time for our pre-schoolers, they transform right before our very eyes into inquisitive, imaginative little people, who are hungry to learn about anything and everything.

By this stage in their development our children start to form firm friendships, they play co-operatively independently and with such active imaginations the play is limitless.
MEET THE TEAM

A Day with us

We get up to lots of different activities, this is an idea of what a typical day in the Barn looks like

Morning

Drop Off and Breakfast: Children start to arrive from 8:00am and those who want to can sit down and have breakfast together.
09:00: Circle Time and focused activities Children are given the opportunity to join circle time and short planned activities based on their interests, for example Phonics activities, Numbers and Shapes integrated with light and noise and Singing and Rhyming.
09:30: Free play and free flow Free play and free flow sessions allow the children to access resources and activities that they wish to play with, for example construction, role play, sand or water.
11:00: Dutch Barn Children are given the opportunity to visit our Dutch Barn to build, climb or learn to ride our bikes and vehicles.

Mealtimes

Lunch time: Lunch in the Barn starts at around 12:00pm.

Dinner time: Dinner in the Barn starts around 4:45pm.

Lunch and dinner consist of a freshly cooked, healthy, hot meal provided by our caterers - Care Catering. We can cater for all allergies.

Mealtimes are important social occasions throughout the nursery: practitioners are encouraged to join the children for their meals; children are encouraged to lay the table and serve themselves with help always on hand if required.

When our children are sitting eating with their friends, we often find fussy eating habits are left at home.

Afternoon

13:00 Circle Time and focused activities Planned activities in the afternoon are on a weekly timetable based around the children's interests. We currently have Baking, Gardening, French and Kindermusik.
14:00 Free play and free flow Free play and free flow sessions allow the children to access resources and activities that they wish to play with, for example construction, role play, sand or water.

We maximise the time our children can play during these sessions, as the longer they spend engaged in an activity the richer the learning experience.
Collection: You are free to collect your child any time before the nursery closes at 6:00pm. From about 5:00pm the team will start preparing your children for collection by gathering their belongings and changing any messy clothes.
